Azteca has gone through lots of small changes over the past two decades and has gone from an old stadium with charm and great views to a mishmash of seating arrangements and odd choices. However, it is already scheduled to close down later this year for a complete renovation with big ambitions; I’ve seen plans that will transform it into something akin to SoFi Stadium.
Interested how they’ll format this with an expanded 48 teams and how much travel will be involved for supporters to follow their respective teams.
This is going to be an awesome world cup. Great stadiums, great for local fans and for visiting fans. 48 Participating countries (I hope they’ll reduce back to 32 In later world cups though)
Holy they announced it literally 2 hours ago and you made this video fast….
Really nice to have the World Cup in Vancouver, I watched this tournament since I was 6 y/o and its a gift to have it be announced for my city 🙏
The Estadio Azteca 😍 no one will beat it’s history
Estadio Azteca is the most historic stadium ever
Pele won in 70
Maradona won in 86
Just historic
I’m a Kansas City Chiefs fan who is really looking forward to going to some World Cup games at Arrowhead! Tyler, I love your channel. Keep up the good work! I would really like to see you do a video on college basketball arenas, such as the Palestra in Philadelphia, Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Rupp Arena in Lexington KY, and Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence KS. I would like to see you cover all the conferences like you have with the college football stadiums.
Fun Fact the AZTECA STADIUM is where 2 of the best players of all time have won the world cup. PELE IN THE 70′(BRAZIL) AND MARADONA IN THE 86′ (ARGENTINA).
Some facts about Mercedes Benz in Atlanta:
It’s designed to support a grass pitch; it has full irrigation and drainage. In fact, the existing artificial turf is watered for every Atlanta United match to speed up the ball.
Capacity-wise, for soccer it can hold at least 73,019 as that was the crowd for the 2018 MLS Cup.
It’s an amazing venue and we can’t wait to welcome the world … again.
30 years ago we did the Olympics and now the World Cup. Awesome stuff.
I live near Seattle. The infrastructure around Lumen field where, the Sounders and Seahawks play, is great. Light rail train, busses, plenty of hotels, parks, great atmosphere etc. And it’s a few hours away from Vancouver BC
I’m super excited.
NRG Stadium was actually the first retarctable roof in the NFL back in 2002.
Within two hours after FIFA announced the host cities for 2026, this video drops. Pretty impressed by the quick turnaround.
Super excited that is coming over here. I’m gonna try to catch the games in Monterrey, LA and ATL
The 2026 World Cup will have about 5.8 million tickets available, and it will sell out. Amazing!
5:25 that’s a real beauty right there, refreshing compared to all the other high tech American stadiums.
Originally the FedEx Field in Washington DC was also part of the venue for FIFA 2026 but it was pulled out due to the stadium condition being crap with poor conditions, pipe leak, barricade failing, poor transportation to get there, grass field is so horrid that NFL players in there get injured because of it, and more
“None of the stadiums are located in an autocracy”
Please, God, let that statement still be true in four years.
I can’t wait for this tournament and to see how some of the stadiums will be redeveloped.
I know 2022 hasn’t even been played, but I’m so excited for this one. My wallet is going to be crying with all the tickets I’ll be buying.
I wish Orlando had been picked for the States, especially since by 2026, it will be an even more massive place for Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, etc and the tourism and the WC fans would have loved it!
Love how he spends less time on the most important and historical stadium in soccer which is estsdio Azteca !!! The pitch is so wide and big like Barcelona’s csmp nou and they fixed it up 5 yrs ago and will continue to do so
Canada is like a group member who skip the task but still get full mark
In the United States the stadiums we have are just incredible. There are like ten other stadiums that could have made it but their cities didn’t even bid. Eg. Las vegas, Arizona, Minnesota. As an Atl resident Mercedes-Benz stadium 🏟 all the way. We should get a semifinal game and a third place match at the minimum. Ny will host the opening ceremony. I believe the finals will go to Dallas.
I hope they give Mexico at least one Brazil and one Argentina game for old times sake, preferably Brazil in Guadalajara, that’s like their second home.
Sad that Las Vegas is not part of this. Both the venue and accommodations there are top notch for event like this.
