🇯🇵 What a performance! EQUINOX wins the Dubai Sheema Classic! イクイノックス | 競馬 | ドバイワールドカップ
Equinox justified his status as the best turf horse in the world, smashing the Meydan mile-and-a-half track record in landing the $6million Longines Dubai Sheema Classic. Christophe Lemaire’s mount did it the hard way, his white face leading all the way and stretching to a scintillating three-and-a-half-length victory.
The Tetsuya Kimura-trained colt, a son of Japanese sire Kitasan Black, had won the Tenno Sho in Tokyo in October and was having his first run since landing the Arima Kinen on Christmas Day. But that pair of Group One successes paled into insignificance as Lemaire’s charge cruised on the front end, tracked by the John and Thady Gosden-trained Mostahdaf under Jim Crowley.
Lemaire always had any move covered, though, and he kicked clear with two furlongs to run and, eased down, lowered the track record by over a second. Ralph Beckett’s Irish Derby winner Westover, who had got warm beforehand, made up some ground and finished with a flourish, but the bird had long since flown.
Zagrey stayed on to pip Mostahdaf for third, but this was all about the brilliance of the winner.

Wow…Haven’t seen anything like that in my horse racing life ever…Thought Frankle winning the guineas was the best performance I’d ever seen,but this beats that.

強過ぎて言葉が出て来ない。
毎回レースの度に涙が出るほど魅せられるのはいっくんだけ！
最初先頭に立った時はめちゃくちゃ焦ったけど、最後の直線はもう笑うことしか出来なかった。
とんでもない強さの馬だとは思っていたけれど、まさかこれ程とは思わなかった。
持ったまんま逃げて最後の直線で突き放して残り100mからもう緩めてレコード1秒更新とか異次元すぎる。
しかもそれをドバイの地でやってしまう恐ろしさ。
今まで散々ドゥラメンテみたいなレースしておきながら、ここにきて親父さながらの逃げを見せてノーステッキでのレコード勝ち。
天才という表現すら生温い、正真正銘の怪物ですね。現時点では負ける姿が想像出来ない。
Equinox took a second off Mishriffs race and track record hard held on the bridle! He’s an absolute beast of a middle distance turf horse. By far and away the best turf horse in the world. I will be loading up on him come Arc day in October if the ground is good or better on the day. This weapon also has one of the greatest middle distance horses in Dancing Brave throughout his pedigree which makes me like him even more.

That was a hell of a run from Equinox. I thought Westover would have been ridden closer to the pace, not that it would have made any difference as far as the winner is concerned.

That was a very impressive win by Equinox, reminded me of Nijinsky the way he also used to quicken away from the pack leaving them far behind in his wake .

誰も行きたくない中で自然と押し出される
終わってみたら持ったまんまで圧勝劇！
思えば昨年のエフフォーリアもこの時期「今年はどれだけG1を積み重ねるか！」と期待されていた
僅かながらにイクイノックスにも不安が過ったが、この馬は歴史的名馬の仲間入りするかも
凱旋門賞への拘りはないけど、海外挑戦するならばBCターフは見てみたい！

The great bloodlines of European and American horses, Dancing Brave and Sunday Silence, have produced a monster in Japan. While I would like to see him run alongside Auguste Rodin, who also carries the bloodline of Sunday Silence, in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, the heavy ground in Europe is not suitable for the racing style that Equinox has been trained for on Japanese circuits.
